What secrets do you have up your sleeve that keep you running like a finely tuned machine, breezing through winter without so much as a sniffle?
Posted by: Steffanie Frazier| January 15, 2007 at 12:22 PM The best tip I got was from a colleague who reminded me to keep my hands away from my face, especially during flu season. It is so true, now before I touchup my makeup or put on lipgloss I make sure to santize my hands first. Its those absent touches that can easily spread germs. My name is Madeleine Chace and today, January 12, 2007, I simply finished, Episode 11 of, " Smart Choices with Madeleine," a cable tv show that I produce. My six year old son is my motivation for staying healthy because if I'm sick, I can barely care for him and at times he's very demanding of my time mostly because he's an only child. I take cod liver oil vitamin usually 3 times a week; they are good for the immune system. I also stay bundled up with warm clothing. If my shirts or blouses show alot of my neck area and upper chest area, I always wear scarves to keep that area warm. Growing up my great-grandmother would always tell me to keep my neck covered up when it is cold outside which will prevent me from getting sick and most importantly, a sore throat. I've always thought that was just a myth, but for some reason I find that it is true. I play tennis, I try to eat right, I kiss my husband. I'm not sure which on has the most impact, but I like to think it's the smooching! |

I stay healthy by washing my hands(especially after being out in public), avoiding salt, eating lots of fruits and vegetables and doing everything in moderation. I make sure I get plenty of sleep and keep stess at bay by laughing a lot. I also get a flu shot every year.
