What Would You Do with an Extra 15 Minutes?
Posted on Dec 13, 2006 11:05:05 AM  |  By SimplyStatedAdmin

Like a horse out of the gate, you no doubt hit the ground running: Get up, get out, get back home, get dinner together, get to bed, get up, and do it again. If you had an extra 15 minutes in your day, how would you use it?

Tell us how you'd use the extra minutes by posting a comment, below.

I wouldn't do anything, not even use my mind. My mind is usually in several different places at once. I would just let everything (being mommy, work, household chores) go while lying on my spacious living room floor in front of the fireplace wrapped in my comforter.

I'm 63 and have made friends all over the USA. I would spend that extra 15 minutes trying to find one of my old friends, or dial the phone and talk to one if I still have his/her number. In fact, I do have the time, so that's what I'm going to do. Thanks.

With 15 extra minutes, I would sit on my front porch swing with a cup of coffee in one hand, my eyes would scan the neighborhood, and I'd wave at passersby as if I knew them as old, familiar friends, then I would wear a smile as if I have never been so happy to be alive.

I'm a catnap person. 10 minutes with my eyes closed, on a comfortable mattress, bookended by a couple of minutes of good stretches at the beginning and end, really rejuvenate me. A glass of water before and after doesn't hurt, either. If it seems alittle hard to unwind, a few grateful thoughts during those stretches ease me along my way.

I love my shitzu, he my life, and I play with him everyday. I am disabled and can't work. So he loves it. But my family, like so many, need lots of time to be together, because life is too short. Enjoy the moment people, you can turn around and it won't be there.

I would start reading a book just for pleasure. Fifteen minutes a day would be just enough to light the fire of my imagination :-)

i would spend the extra time sitting in the family room with my 6 dogs and 6 cats (all rescues). They would be all around me sleeping and it would be so peaceful.

I would look at my husband and smile for an extra 15 minutes in the morning if I had the time.

With an extra 15 minutes in my day, I would take a long walk, or a short bike ride. I want to rejuvenate myself, and the best way to do that, is get outside, soak up those rays, and enjoy the beautiful scenery. I am a student and am stuck inside old walls all day, so getting outside is a real treat for me. I am a mountain bike racer, and enjoy the outdoors whenever I get the chance, so 15 minutes of quality time with nature would be heaven to me.

I always feel rushed in the morning, so I would love to spend 15 minutes at my kitchen table, simply watching the neighborhood wake up. I could drink some cocoa in my fluffy robe and just enjoy the sun coming up.

I would re-read all the Agatha Christie mysteries I read in my youth. Then I would find a contempory author and begin reading all of their published works. Get lost in someone elses drama for 15 miniutes.

I'd "power nap" every day for 15 minutes. As a happily single~again mother of two active teen-agers, and a full time job; a meditative nap gives me the energy to keep it going!

I'd use it to get my daily cat-nap out of the way so more of my home-from-work time -- and energy -- would be available for projects (music, writing, etc), talking to my wife and being with my cats.

I would not want 15 more minutes in a day. God gave us all 24 hours each day for a reason. It's what we do with every one of those minutes given us that matters.

I would spend the time sitting on the front porch with my dog Daisy and watching the sunset...grounding myself, taking a deep breath and remembering to feel grateful for the little things like the perfection of nature.

With 15 extra minutes, I would get up early to walk around my neighborhood. Walking is something I used to do on a regular basis. I loved smelling the air in the morning and feeling the crisp air on my face, and the excercise didnt hurt either! It was a great day starter for me.

What I do, really, with those extra 15 min. in the morning is look up my word(s) of the day. Whenever I come across a word I do not know I write it down and look up the meaning at home. English is my second language and I am constantly learning. I usually have 1-4 words to look up. So I would make those extra 15 min. real learning minutes!

If I had an extra 15 minutes a day, I would light up a candle, drink some vanilla hazelnut tea, sit down on the couch with my little chihuahua, and watch some romantic comedy movie.

Breathing exercises. There is nothing like sitting in a quite room and just listening to your own breath. It gives me time to check in with mind and body no matter where I am. Often I forget that the key to my energy, stress level and happiness is as simple as taking a deep cleansing breath...I would love an extra 15 mins to just focus on my inner self.

Just breathe.

If I had an extra 15 minutes a day I would read to my two girls. I feel that reading is one of the most important things you can do for your children to help them get a jumpstart on life. There are more books out there than we could possibly read, but the time spent bonding will last a lifetime.

I'd have a cup of hot tea and either READ or WRITE

I would spend my time talking to my two teenage children. There are so many other things that could take their attention and time, and I want to share as much of that as possible. I have enjoyed each stage of their lives, but this has been a great time, watching them become young adults.

I would take that time to find my inner calm. by meditating or practicing daily gratitudes or by stretching. I think that doing these things would improve the overall quality of my other 24 hours.

I would continue reading my late Father's journals. Each time I read them I learn even more about him and it also helps me understand where I get some of my funny quirks. One of those is beeing exact about the time of day. i.e 3:04pm not rounded up or down just as my father notes in is journals what time he arose or went to sleep. "It is 10:02 pm and I am going to sleep now."
